
What kind of Dirt do I need? Fill or Topsoil
Fill dirt can be transported many ways. Normally you see End Dumps and Dump trucks hauling fill dirt, topsoil and other aggregates
Fill is the material below 6 to 10 inches of the topsoil. It’s sander, clay, red like soil lacking the proper ph. Most plants grow best in a near-neutral range between 6.0 and 8.0 ph. While topsoil varies significantly, standards do exist depending on what you’re planting like flowers or vegetation etc.

Topsoil is the outer layer, the surface soil. It’s very rich and black. It has the highest concentration of organic matter and microorganisms and is where most of the Earths biological soil activity occurs. Topsoil is composed of mineral particles, organic matter, water, and air it is best for planting on the outer layer of your garden or great for potting soil.
